Tottenham v Manchester City
There is an all English affair at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Spurs welcome the current Premier League champions and favourites for the competition, Manchester City, for the first leg of their quarter-final.

Tottenham overcame Borussia Dortmund in the previous round, recording a superb 3-0 win at Wembley, before winning 1-0 in the return leg at Signal Iduna Park thanks to a second half goal from Harry Kane to record a 4-0 aggregate win. However, their recent domestic form has seen them drop out of the title race and they now face a battle to secure a top-four finish.
Manchester City had a tricky tie at Schalke in the first leg of their first Champions League knockout game. Trailing 2-1 and down to 10 men with just five minutes to go, City staged a remarkable comeback to win the tie 3-2 thanks to a late Raheem Sterling winner. The second leg was far more straightforward, with City thrashing the German side 7-0 to qualify 10-2 on aggregate.
City laboured to a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win on Saturday against Brighton and there are signs that a busy, yet successful season might just be taking a toll on some of their players. This could be a good time for Spurs to play them, especially after the boost of moving into their new stadium.

With Harry Kane leading the line and back in the goals, Spurs will carry a real threat and test a City defence that has not been properly tested for some time. We’re backing them to win the first leg; but City could well get that all important away goal.

Liverpool v FC Porto
Liverpool will be confident of getting past FC Porto and reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the second year running. In the previous round, the Reds overcame the threat of Bayern Munich in spectacular fashion, winning 3-1 on aggregate following a brilliant performance in the Allianz Arena.

Having drawn the first leg at Anfield 0-0, Liverpool travelled to Munich knowing an away goal could take them through if they avoided defeat. Sadio Mane put them 1-0 up, and despite an own goal from Joel Matip just before half-time, Liverpool ran out comfortable 3-1 winners on a memorable night in Germany thanks to further goals from Virgil van Dijk and a second goal of the game from Mane.
Porto had an even more dramatic two games against Roma to secure a quarter-final place, winning through against the odds. They were 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go in the Stadio Olimpico, before an Adrian goal gave the Portuguese club a lifeline.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Porto took the lead in the Estádio do Dragão, but a Daniel De Rossi penalty levelled the game up just before half-time. However, Porto regained the lead to level the tie 3-3 on aggregate and send the game into extra-time.

With penalties looming, Porto were awarded a controversial penalty which Alex Nicolao Telles converted with just three minutes left to send the home side through to the last eight.
Liverpool will need to try to establish a comfortable first leg lead at Anfield so they can go to Portugal with something to defend. Porto will probably try to get a draw in Liverpool and win the home leg, but they might struggle to contain the Reds.

We’re backing a Liverpool win, perhaps comfortably if they can get an early goal and steady the nerves.
